Dennis Cowan ( *6 May 1947, + 1973) was a British musician. He played the electric bass and is noted as having contributed to records by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, Vivian Stanshall and Neil Innes. Born in North London, in the 1960s Dennis Cowan was in a group called The Tribe, whose guitarist was Frank Torpy who went on to join The Sweet, and then The Devil's Disciples with Peter Banks, future guitarist for Yes.〔Review of Bonzo Dog album ''Tadpoles'' - www.bonzodog.org/bonzos/tadpoles.htm〕 He was the first bass player in The Rocky Horror Show, and was drafted in to The Bonzos in 1968, playing on their last three albums and subsequent projects like Vivian Stanshall's BiG Grunt and Neil Innes' band The World. Later he recorded one album with the Band Darien Spirit ("Elegy to Marilyn").
